Dear members of the AtG community,
To help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Against the Grain Theatre has made the decision to postpone our April production of BOUND indefinitely. We feel this decision is essential to protect our community.
Artists are the heart and soul of Against the Grain. As such, we remain committed to compensating BOUND’s artistic and creative team as much of their fee as possible. We understand the implications of this loss of work and want to limit the burden of our decision on those involved.
Many of you have asked if there is anything you can do, and there is. Donations are probably the most important things you can do to help ensure that we can keep serving our audiences and our artists, supporting our staff, and making sure that we can all stay connected with the music we love. Please join us in supporting artists and creators impacted by COVID-19. All donations received by Monday, March 23rd will be used to further compensate those artists affected by the postponement of BOUND.
As well, in order to be conscientious citizens and to reduce/delay the spread of COVID-19, the team spent much of this weekend transitioning to a remote working environment. We are closing the AtG offices for the next couple of weeks (you can still reach us online!) and cancelling our Opera Pub events on April 2 and May 7.
“We must support each other during these trying times. Artists are some of the most resilient people I know. Reach out, text, Facetime and check in on the elderly and your family. AtG has explored alternative methods to share what we do, but ultimately, until health officials give us all the green light, we will not be encouraging gatherings of any kind for the protection of our artists and artisans, as well as our volunteers and patrons,” says Joel Ivany, Artistic Director.
REFUNDS
If you bought tickets for BOUND, the Harbourfront Centre Box Office will be in contact with regards to refunds in the coming days. Please bear with us in these unprecedented circumstances.
“Patrons with tickets for upcoming events will be contacted with details of any postponements or cancellations. We appreciate your patience as we work with our partners, artists and their teams to reschedule events wherever possible.” — Harbourfront Centre
