Get to know Royce and help lead us into our Second Act!
You may recognize Royce as the librettist for AtG’s Indians on Vacation project with Edmonton Opera. As our new Artistic Director, Royce brings a wealth of experience, and a reputation as one of the most celebrated librettists in contemporary opera. A Canada-born, Brooklyn-based artist, Vavrek has been called “the indie Hofmannsthal” by The New Yorker and “an exemplary creator of operatic prose” by The New York Times. His work has been lauded for its innovative narratives, emotional depth, and ability to resonate with contemporary audiences.
To introduce you properly, we thought we’d share a video message from our new Artistic Director. Click the thumbnail to watch.
As you can tell from the above video, we have big plans for our little company. We want to make theatre of all sizes, from fully-staged productions to intimate chamber works.
But we need you to help us get there.
We are on the cusp of an exciting transformation. Our new era will be marked by a commitment to innovation, diversity, and inclusivity, with an ambitious vision to push the boundaries of operatic and vocal works.
Your support is more critical than ever.
