Dances in Orphee+

Established in 2010, Against the Grain Theatre (AtG) is an award-winning Canadian opera company with a vision to evolve the nature and perception of what opera can be.

AtG has grown to become a vital voice in the Canadian operatic landscape using voice and music in collaboration with other artistic mediums to tell stories that speak to the circumstances of a modern audience, pushing the boundaries of the traditional definition of opera. The arts community has embraced AtG, and—of equal importance—so has a much wider, more diverse audience of people who may have never considered attending an opera.

Toronto Life has called AtG “the city’s most inventive company,” and since our first year of eligibility for the Dora Mavor Moore Awards, AtG has received over 25 nominations.
